Camino Stage 3 of 5 (2023)

Early bird catches the worm - in this case from 6:00 a.m. you hike for 8 hours until later lunchtime in order to relax for the rest of the day. 😉
Ich denke der Ausblick entschädigt für so einiges an Strapazen ? 😉

Walking to Nájera with view to the cross (mountain)

One of the many churches (Santa Cruz) at the Camino

Actually, you are never alone on the Way of St. James. If necessary (chat 😉 ) - you approach a follower and start small talk 😉

One of my most favourite pictures of the Camino at all!

Church in Santo Domingo – time for reflection (contemplation)

Church tower in Santo Domingo shortly before the evening Holy Mass.

View of the altar in the side chapel in Santo Domingo

Pilgrim monument in Santo Domingo

Hiking is the -? ... Müller's desire! 😉

One of the many very important watering holes on the Camino. A vitally indispensable thing (water), especially in the midday heat and also towards autumn!

Another pilgrim monument, this time in Castilla León, next to the watering fountain above

Cathedral of Burgos

View from the side street of Burgos Cathedral

Church behind of Burgos

Where do we want to go ?
Where do we have to go ?

on & on & on - without limit ;-)
..and ? Interested for the Camino too ? ;-)

Audience favorite as far as the picture is concerned (likes) & just before Fròmista with a daily running record of 42 km!

Step counter “Steps app” with the daily record of 42 km but also 41,000 steps. I think a tolerance of around 10% can be deducted, which brings me to around 38km / day's walk.

Shortly before the end of the 2023 stage at Fromista.
As usual - the panorama compensates immensely in those moments and the image (memory) keeps you awake! 😉

The end of the stage reaches Frómista with a view of the local church dedicated to Saint Martin.

That was stage three of five. I actually thought I would do everything in three to four stages, but there are many uncertain factors along the way: weather, your own fitness, moments of recovery and reaching the daily quota. So I stretched my Camino 'Reload' from three to five stages, which doesn't detract from the fun and, above all, the annual anticipation (5 years).
The cultural highlight on the way was the city of Burgos but also the many great panoramic routes on flat paths (without mountains etc.).
At the time, I was also taking a weight-loss insulin. As a whole (within 10 weeks and the Camino) I was able to lose another 20kg and then 30kg. Also great was the last overnight stay in the middle of nowhere (in the middle of the Camino) just before Frómista in a hostel that was powered by solar panels. We (approx. 7 pilgrims) all slept in one bedroom and ate together and had very deep basic conversations. We will probably never see each other (7 pilgrims) again 😉!
